MINISTER of Green Economy and Environment Mike Mposha says a study will be undertaken to ascertain the presence of heavy metals in the Kafue River following pollution by Sino Metals. He says once the results are released, government will look at how to clean the sections of the river that are affected by the pollution. Last month, Sino Metals Leach Zambia Limited, a Copperbelt-based company, discharged pollutants into the Mwambashi River, a tributary of the Kafue River, leading to contamination that has since spread to Ngabwe District in Central Province.
