THE National Prosecution Authority (NPA) has asked the Lusaka High Court to strike Gilbert Phiri and the authority from some proceedings in which Zumani Zimba and another have sued the state demanding K233,780,000 compensation for their arrest, detention, and prosecution. This is in a matter in which former president Edgar Lungu’s political advisor, Zimba, and Portipher Gwai have sued the state following their prosecution for the gassing incidents which happened in 2020. Zimba and Gwai cited the Attorney General, the NPA, Director of Public Prosecutions Phiri and Catherine Lwimba, a police officer, as defendants.
