THE National Pension Scheme Authority (NAPSA) has formally withdrawn its lawsuit against Nitrogen Chemicals of Zambia (NCZ), in which it sought to recover K129.5 million in penalty arrears arising from non-remittance and late payment of employee contributions. In a notice of discontinuance filed before the Lusaka High Court, NAPSA indicated that it had decided to wholly discontinue the matter against the state-owned fertilizer company. The development comes after NAPSA recently sued NCZ, demanding payment of K129,511,169.32, representing penalty arrears that remained after a partial waiver had been granted. According to a previously filed statement of claim, NAPSA stated that NCZ had accumulated a total of K395,793,867.15 in penalty arrears for failing to remit statutory contributions on time or at all....
