National youth chairperson of the de-registered National Democratic Congress (NDC), Charles Kabwita, says it is wishful thinking for PF media director Sunday Chanda to ask Chishimba Kambwili to re-join the PF.

Reacting to Chanda’s call for Kambwili to “swallow his pride and re-join the ruling party”, Kabwita claimed that the PF wanted to use the former information minister to win the 2021 general elections.

“It is wishful thinking for Sunday Chanda to suggest that Chishimba Kambwili should re-join the PF. Today, he is saying ‘Chishimba Kambwili should re-join PF!’ This has been their discussion because they have seen that it is so difficult for them to operate as a political party and as government,” Kabwita said.

“And now, they want Chishimba Kambwili, whom they have called a mad person, to [go] back so that he should do damage control for them. They have messed up this country. Jobs that they promised the youths, they have failed. Now, they want to use Chishimba Kambwili to come and do damage control on (their) behalf? There is no coming back.”

He said Chanda’s appeal to the former Roan PF member of parliament would not be heard.

“Sunday Chanda is well-known; he was in MMD, he did the same thing: he called president Michael Sata names, today, he is calling Kambwili names. Even us, as NDC, if we formed government and became stupid and employ Sunday Chanda, he will do the same thing of insulting the elders and leaders in the opposition,” Kabwita added.

“Whatever Sunday Chanda is thinking or insinuating will never come to pass. He should just continue lying on behalf of PF that they are doing well when in actual fact, they have caused so much misery to the people of Zambia.”

He argued that NDC party members were not shaken by the de-registration of the party.

“How do you deregister NDC and then 24 hours later, then invite him (Kambwili) to join you? This shows that the PF want Kambwili to win the elections in 2021. But time of reckoning has come; they should start packing; time is fast-approaching,” Kabwita cautioned.

“Our members in the NDC have not been shaken with the move (de-registration). In fact, they are saying that ‘PF has now employed itself to be campaign managers for NDC.’ I want to thank the leadership in the PF for having offered self-service without being charged a coin or anything to be campaign managers for NDC.”

He added that the PF could not win an election without Kambwili.

“PF is defunct, PF is gone! PF, in the actual fact, is a political party that is de-registered. It is operating on the basis that they have a five-year mandate, which is coming to expire in 24 months from now. PF can never win an election without Chishimba Kambwili because president Kambwili is the one who campaigned for the PF in 2015 and 2016. Now, they have realized that they caused so much damage and they thought they will have it their way. They want to continue being in government, that is why they want to have Kambwili back [in] PF,” said Kabwita.
