UPND members of parliament yesterday walked out of the National Assembly after Lunte PF MP Mutotwe Kafwaya raised a motion on the high cost of living. As Kafwaya moved his motion urging the government to take practical steps to reduce the cost of living, MPs on the right started walking out one by one, eventually collapsing the quorum. At this point, opposition MPs were heard mocking and shouting that the UPND MPs had run away. The House was consequently adjourned at around 17:47 hours. As they left the chamber, PF and Independent MPs were heard singing, “twaba wina eyaye” (we’ve won).
