UNIONISED teachers at Nkhwazi Primary School in Lusaka staged a protest yesterday, demanding a 20 percent salary increase and better conditions of service. The teachers also lamented that they have not received their June salaries, stating that they will only return to the classrooms once their conditions are met, as they have been negotiating for better salaries for the last five months. A check by News Diggers at the school, around 09:00 hours, found the teachers singing and chanting for the resignation of the board chairperson and the financial controller, whom they accused of being behind management’s failure to address the concerns of the employees.
