TRANSPARENCY International Zambia is calling on Constance Muleabai, the Livingstone City Council Mayor to take leave of absence from her office in order to facilitate an unhindered investigation into a corruption scandal in which she is implicated. Under normal circumstances, we would not be writing an editorial opinion supporting the removal of a public office holder before official investigations are concluded, but this case is different in that the ingredients of corruption are overwhelming. We also feel the need to comment on it because the investigative wings are suspiciously expressing ignorance of the development.
