Kitwe mayor Christopher Kang’ombe says the poor sanitation in Miseshi-Mindolo and Kwacha-Bulangililo is very worrying.
He has, however, assured the residents that they will benefit from the $200 million water and sewer upgrade project.
Kang’ombe said this when he inspected the dilapidated water and sewer infrastructure in the two residential areas.
“Residents of Kitwe’s Miseshi-Mindolo and Kwacha-Bulangililo townships have been assured of their localities’ inclusion in the $200 million water and sewer systems upgrade project under Nkana Water and Sewerage Company’s phase two programme,” Kang’ombe said.
In the company of councillors Douglas Moyo (Miseshi) and Alex Chembo (Kwacha), the mayor revealed that China Henan International Construction firm had been engaged to implement the project on behalf of the government through Nkana Water and Sewerage Company.
“The government has contracted China Henan International Construction firm to design, cost and implement the project. This welcome development means that our residents are assured of drastic improvement in the services once the project is excuted,” said Kango’mbe.
