THE Zambia Statistics Agency (ZamStats) says the annual inflation rate for August 2026 declined to 6.2 percent from 6.5 percent recorded in July 2026. Meanwhile, President Hakainde Hichilema says the reduced inflation shows that government’s hard work over the past five years is paying off. The Central Bank set the inflation target between six to eight percent. For the past few months, the inflation rate has been within that target band.
