DIRECTOR of Public Prosecutions (DPP) Gilbert Phiri has entered a nolle prosequi in a matter in which late Forum for Democracy and Development (FDD) president, Edith Nawakwi, was facing two counts of abduction with intent to confine a person and threatening violence. When the matter came up for continuation of trial before Lusaka Magistrate Amy Masoja, the state informed the court that the DPP had entered a nolle prosequi into the matter owing to the demise of Nawakwi on April 7, 2025. “Having heard of the demise of the accused, the state has entered a nolle prosecution,” said the state.
