NDC leader Chishimba Kambwili’s special advisor Chris Zumani Zimba has resigned from his position saying he wants to focus on his academic career and projects without any fear or misunderstanding.
And NDC spokesperson Eric Chanda says the party wishes him well in his future endeavours.
In a statement issued, Monday, Zimba, who was appointed on March 12, stated that he had decided to withdraw from NDC and partisan political engagements after some deep reflections.
“As of Friday last week, my political plane successfully landed again in my home village and I am back to my roots. Here is how it happened: Good morning Dr. Chishimba Kambwili, l am writing to inform you that after taking deep reflections and introspection, l have finally come to decide on withdrawing myself, expert services and membership from not only NDC as a party but indeed any partisan political engagements anywhere from now on wards. For now, I want to be as politically neutral as possible so that l mainly focus on my usual academic career, political analysis, consultancy, and project works without any fear, misunderstanding, misrepresentation or unnecessary professional predicaments,” he stated.
Zimba thanked Kambwili for his leadership further stating that he trusted in the rare political potential of NDC.
“In this regard, l want to sincerely thank you for your distinguished leadership, political potency and comradeship trust you bestowed upon me via this noble appointment in NDC. Certainly, l still trust in the rare political potential of NDC and will always respect and appreciate you as a true Zambian and great politician. Dr. I wish you, your family and NDC God’s blessings and best wishes. Once more, I remain thankful, touched and humbled for having been appointed and trusted to offer my voluntary technical services and expert skills to NDC under your office. Zikomo kwambili, Chris Zumani Zimba,” he stated.
And Chanda confirmed Zimba’s resignation in a separate statement and wished him well in his future endeavours.
“I wish to confirm to the nation that yes we have received the resignation of comrade Zumani Zimba from his position in the party. Basically because comrade Zumani Zimba wants to concentrate on his job as a lecturer. The nation must be aware that comrade Zimba is a lecturer at various institutions of learning in the Republic of Zambia. And as a party we will not want to stand in his way. The only thing we can do is to wish him well in his future endeavours,” said Chanda.
