UPND spokesperson Cornelius Mweetwa says the 50 percent reduction in the inflation rate since his party took office indicates progress. In an interview, Friday, Mweetwa argued that had the PF continued being in office, the cost of living would have been double what was currently obtaining. “In August last year, inflation was at 24.8 percent meaning that is the rate at which prices [were rising]. Today inflation is at 10.2, meaning that is the rate at which prices are [increasing]. Meaning the price increase has reduced from 24.8 percent to 10.2 percent. And therefore if our colleagues had remained in office and the runaway situation in terms of inflation had continued, the cost of living today would have been double…...
