THE push by the UPND government to amend the Constitution before the 2026 elections is increasingly worrying and highly suspicious. President Hakainde Hichilema’s insistence that the Constitution must be changed in order to allow for greater representation of women, youths, and people living with disabilities in decision-making positions is an old tired trick which has never worked. We find it impossible to ignore the glaring similarities between President Hichilema’s current actions and those of his predecessor, Edgar Lungu.
