SACCORD executive director Boniface Cheembe has hailed the PF for amicably resolving the matter in which Roan member of parliament Chishimba Kambwili was charged with gross misconduct.
In an interview today, Cheembe said the resolution gave hope that unity could be upheld in politics.
“The issue is never whether conflicts will arise, but rather how they are resolved once they do. It is always expected that the ruling party will lead by example when it comes to amicably resolving conflicts and as SACCORD we have taken note of the manner with which they have handled the matter that has been a subject matter for sometime in the nation,” Cheembe said.
“The PF’s gesture towards the Roan parliamentarian gives us hope that when differences which arose over other personalities in various political parties can be given a platform for reconciliation.
He admitted that “most people expected Kambwili to be expelled.
“A much easier resolution would have been the expulsion of honorable Kambwili, as opposed to applying peace building measures that need patience. We hope that the Vice-President [Inonge Wina] led mediation team will produce results that will help the individuals involved in the conflict to reconcile at personal level,” said Cheembe.
