The Ministry of Health has suspended sponsorship of all programmes at all its departments in provinces, districts, health facilities and training institutions.
Health Permanent Secretary for administration Kakulubelwa Mulalelo announced this in a memo dated June 6, which was addressed to all directors, provincial and district health directors, medical superintendents in-charge at government health facilities and heads of training institutes and principal tutors.
Mulalelo stated that self-sponsorship and sponsorship from cooperating partners would remain in effect and assured returning students under government sponsorship that they would not be affected.
“You are hereby informed that due to the austerity measures recently pronounced by the government, the Ministry of Health has with immediate effect suspended sponsorship of all programmes. However, self-sponsorship and sponsorship from cooperating partners will remain in effect. Please note that returning students that are under the Ministry of Health sponsorship will not be affected. In this regard, you are advised accordingly,” stated Mulalelo.
