THE Anti-Corruption Commission (ACC) in Kasama has arrested an assistant civil engineer at Kanchibiya Town Council for corrupt practices involving K60,000.

In a statement, ACC spokesperson Queen Chibwe said Luckson Chishimba aged 34 had been charged with one count of corrupt practices by a public officer for corruptly soliciting K60,000 cash gratification.

“The Anti-Corruption Commission in Kasama has arrested an assistant civil engineer at Kanchibiya Town Council for corrupt practices involving K60,000.00. Luckson Chishimba aged 34 of Chitulika in Mpika has been charged with one count of Corrupt Practices by public officer contrary to section 19 (1) of the Anti- Corruption Commission Act No. 3 of 2012 (Cap 91 of the Laws of Zambia),” stated Chibwe.

“Particulars of the offence being that Luckson Chishimba on dates unknown but between 1st May 2019 and 25th November 2019 at Mpika in the Mpika District of the Muchinga Province of the Republic of Zambia, being a public officer namely assistant civil engineer employed at Kanchibiya Town Council did corruptly solicit for K60,000 cash gratification from Nathan Sinyenga, a director at Mwalizi Trading and did in fact receive K15,000 in order to forego routine building inspections in respect of Kawama Rural Health Post that was being constructed by Mwalizi Trading, a matter or transaction that concerns Kanchibiya Town Council, a public body. Mr Chishimba has since been released on bond and will appear in court soon.”
