OIL Marketing Companies Association of Zambia president Dr Kafula Mubanga has advised government to consider introducing a Statutory Instrument (SI) which will entail bus fares are reviewed yearly, rather than on a monthly basis. On Monday, the Road Transport and Safety Agency (RTSA) said it would announce proposed changes in bus fares during the course of this week, following a recent increase in fuel pump prices. In May this year, after fuel pump prices were reduced for that month, RTSA announced a K10 reduction on all inter-city bus fares, but stated that fares for inter-mine, peri-urban and local routes remained unchanged.
