A 20-YEAR-OLD man of Lusaka has been dragged to court for allegedly killing a 48-year-old man of Indian origin after he allegedly tried to sodomise him.

In this matter, Moses Zulu of Garden Township is charged with the murder of Manesh Sharma on July 4, this year.

Allegations in the matter are that on July 5, 2021, police started investigations into the murder of Sharma who was discovered dead by unknown people in his unmarked flat on the 10th floor at Anchor House, in Lusaka.

The investigations led to the arrest of Zulu who confessed that he strangled the deceased with an electric cable.

It is alleged that the incident happened when Zulu went to do some piece of work for Sharma during which time he was offered whiskey to drink.

It was revealed that when he got drunk, Sharma tried to sodomise Zulu who, at this point, managed to overpower the deceased and strangled him.

It is further alleged that after the deceased was killed, Zulu stole a plasma Samsung 32 inch Television and went to Katondo Street to sell it.

On July 16 this year, an identification parade was conducted which led to the identification of the suspect.

And during scene reconstruction, Zulu demonstrated how he strangled the deceased and led officers to Katondo street.

Once there, the accused pointed at Kwabo Kwanda, a person who assisted him to find the buyer of the TV which he sold at K1,200 to a passer-by.

The matter is scheduled to come up today for explanation of the charge and committal of the accused to the High Court for trial.
