HOME Affairs Permanent Secretary Josephs Akafumba has refuted a letter which is circulating on social media to the effect that President Hakainde Hichilema has confirmed the retirement of 54 senior police officers in national interest. The said letter, which is dated July 21, 2022, purported to be authored by the ministry’s permanent secretary, without stating the name, indicates that among the retired officers are former police spokesperson Esther Mwaata Katongo and former Ministry of Home affairs public relations officer Nephas Chifuta.
