SPEAKER of the National Assembly Nelly Mutti has declared the Lumezi parliamentary seat, held by Munir Zulu in Eastern Province, vacant. According to ZNBC, this follows a letter dated April 8, 2025, written by the Speaker to the Electoral Commission of Zambia. On Monday, Lusaka Chief Resident Magistrate Davies Chibwili sentenced Zulu to 12 months imprisonment with hard labour for making defamatory remarks against Finance Minister Situmbeko Musokotwane, his Infrastructure counterpart Charles Milupi, and RDA Board Chairperson Mulchand Kuntawala.
