UPND Alliance Chairperson Charles Milupi says people in formal employment appear to pay taxes more consistently simply because they have no choice, as their taxes are deducted before they receive their salaries. Recently, a Catholic Priest, Fr Chalwe Chonde, noted that people find it easier to pay government taxes than to contribute tithe at Church. Fr Chonde said personal projects were usually prioritised at the expense of Church projects.
