The dissolution of parliament marks the official handover of power from the elected officials to the people. As Parliament dissolves, there is something for President Edgar Lungu, his Cabinet minister and members of parliament to learn. Never forget where the power comes from. Without the poor, the rich wouldn’t be rich; without the powerless, the powerful wouldn’t be powerful. Therefore it is very important for those who occupy political leadership to realise that they are on top because of the people who are below them.
