THE Board chairperson for the Zambia Revenue Authority (ZRA) Caleb Fundanga says the authority is in the process of figuring out a way of capturing tax on business mobile money transactions. Mr Fundanga, who is former Bank of Zambia Governor, says ZRA is concerned that people have found a smart way of evading tax payments by opting to use mobile money accounts instead of point of sale machines. He observed that even some businesses that have point of sale machines sometimes lie that they don’t have network, so that clients pay into their mobile money accounts which are not scrutinised for tax.
