UNITY does not imply uniformity. It does not mean that all Zambians must think alike or agree on every policy or every dissenting opinion made by someone else. National Unity signifies a shared commitment to the nation’s well-being and a collective responsibility to uphold democratic principles. In a vibrant democracy, disagreements are inevitable. They are, in fact, a sign of healthy political discourse and a testament to the freedom of expression. However, when these disagreements escalate to a point where the democratic right of Zambians to determine their own path is undermined, it becomes detrimental to the nation’s unity.
