THE Afrobarometer, a pan-African, non-partisan survey has revealed that 51 percent of Zambians consider domestic violence a private matter while 43 percent say it should be treated as a criminal matter. Survey findings further show that men are more likely than women to see domestic violence as a private matter. According to the Afrobarometer dispatch compiled by Edward Chibwili, a research fellow at the Institute of Economic and Social Research (INESOR), a research wing of the University of Zambia, the Afrobarometer team in Zambia led by INESOR interviewed a nationally representative, random, stratified probability sample of 1,200 Zambian adults between August 3 and September 7, 2022.
