AT LEAST eight people have been apprehended by police in Kitwe following a riot by small-scale illegal miners who were protesting the authorities’ decision to deny them access to the Green Mountain Tailing Dam 52. The decision comes after a recent mine accident that resulted in the deaths of five illegal small-scale miners. Copperbelt Police Commissioner Peacewell Mweemba identified those arrested as Mercy Sawila, 46, Catherine Chinvula, 24, Mathews Mboloma, 39, and Chipego Hamududu, 24.
