CHAPTER One Foundation Executive Director Josiah Kalala says to enhance accountability, the Auditor General’s Office should have the freedom to conduct impromptu audits when allegations of impropriety surface. On Wednesday, Acting Auditor General Dr Ron Mwambwa expressed concern over reports suggesting that his office’s audit reports for the financial year ended December 31, 2023 deliberately excluded audit findings on the procurement of ambulances due to external instructions. Dr Mwambwa clarified that the procurement of 156 ambulances will be covered in 2025 in the audit of financial statements for the year ended December 31, 2024.
