POLICE in Central Province have disclosed that 33 suspects facing murder, defilement, theft and assault charges escaped from lawful custody at Kapiri Mposhi Police Station after allegedly overpowering officers on duty. Central Province Police Commissioner Lemekani Chirwa says only four suspects have been recaptured, while the four officers who were on duty during the incident are facing a disciplinary charge of negligence of duty.
