THE Constitutional Court has dismissed a petition challenging the eligibility of Socialist Party presidential candidate Dr Fred M’membe and his running mate Dolika Banda to contest the August 13 elections. Meanwhile, Dr M’membe, who has described the judgment as reasonable, says there is no politician in Africa or in the world who matches his qualifications. And Banda has expressed delight in the ruling, stating that the judiciary has exhibited professionalism. In this matter, governance activist Isaac Mwanza filed a petition seeking a declaration that Banda does not possess a Grade 12 certificate or its equivalent as required under Articles 100(1)(e), 110(2), and 266 of the Constitution.
