ZESCO says it will hit the target of 1,000 MW of solar energy by October, indicating that it has already reached 700 MW. ZESCO Director of Planning and Projects Francis Namakanda further says the Chipata West 100 MW solar plant will be commissioned by November. The plant is being constructed by China Machinery Engineering Corporation (CMEC) for ZESCO at a total cost of $78 million and is 52 per cent complete.
