REGISTERED voters across the country yesterday woke up as early as 03:00 hours to decide Zambia’s leadership for the next five years. The polls, which were generally peaceful, have been characterised by what could be described as low turnout in comparison to the 2021 election. According to ECZ, most polling stations on the Copperbelt opened on time, while other provinces experienced delays at some named polling stations owing to logistical challenges. During its first briefing after the polls, ECZ announced that polling stations that opened late would be allowed to operate until they covered the 12-hour voting period allocated to each polling station.
