ECONOMIC Front leader Wynter Kabimba says the deadline for petitioning President Hakainde Hichilema’s re-election should have been moved to Thursday, owing to the closure of courts. Kabimba says the argument of whether or not the petition was properly filed on Monday should be disregarded. On Monday, courts countrywide were closed, on the deadline for filing the presidential petition, due to “security reasons”. The courts have since resumed operations after three days. Meanwhile, the Judiciary says the Constitutional Court Registry had not received any petition as of August 25, and Secretary to Cabinet Patrick Kangwa has announced that President Hichilema’s inauguartion would take place on September 1.
