The Kalulushi Municipal Council, through the bailiffs, has seized six vehicles from ZESCO Limited over K 3,696, 000 debt.
In a statement today, KMC public relations manager Dorothy Sampa revealed that the debt is from July 2016.
“The bailiffs have since seized six vehicles from ZESCO LTD who are owing the huge sum of K3,696,000.00. The debt is from July 2016. Efforts to have ZESCO settle this debt through a cash plan fell on deaf ears hence the action by the council,” Sampa stated.
“This must serve as a warning to all those that are owing the Council. The Kalulushi Municipal Council has sent warrants of distress to all those that are owing the ouncil huge sums of money in terms of crates and other services.”
She stated that due to the debts, the council had failed to pay workers’ November salaries.
“These monies have been outstanding for a long period of time making the council fail to pay its workers the November salaries. In its quest to pay salaries as well as collect garbage especially now that we are in the rain season the Council has engaged bailiffs to pounce on all those that have defaulted,” stated Sampa.
