MINEWORKERS’ Union of Zambia (MUZ) president Joseph Chewe says the union has signed a Memorandum of Understanding with its Egyptian counterpart to enable MUZ open a mine. And Chewe has lamented the bureaucracy in the issuance of mining licences in the country. In an interview, Chewe said the union had reached out to President Hakainde Hichilema for help in acquiring a mining licence. “We signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) with our colleagues so even as we met the President, we did indicate to the President that Mineworkers’ Union of Zambia in particular has signed an MOU.
