GOVERNMENT says the country expects to be supplied with about 4,040,645 metric tonnes of maize in 2025. And ZAMSTATs says the country is expected to harvest about 3,655,645 tonnes of maize this year, compared to 1.5 million in 2024. Speaking during the presentation of the 2024/2025 Crop Forecast Survey, Thursday, Acting Agriculture Minister Sylvia Masebo said the national requirement currently stood at 3,539,024 tonnes, indicating a surplus of 501,621 metric tonnes.
