A 36-year-old Lusaka woman has been dragged to court for burning her nine-year-old step daughter on her left buttock for urinating on the bed.

Elizabeth Phiri of Lusaka’s Bauleni compound is scheduled to take plea before magistrate Alice Walusiku.

Phiri, who is a housewife, is facing one count of assault on a child.

It is alleged that on June 3, 2017 Phiri assaulted her step daughter thereby occasioning her actual bodily harm.

Elizabeth is alleged to have been incensed by her step daughter’s bed wetting.

Phiri burnt the victim on her left buttock with a pressing iron after not getting a satisfactory answer as to why the girl had not changed her clothes.

After assaulting burning her, Phiri sent the victim to wash the blankets.
