FORMER Defence Minister George Mpombo has sued the Zambia Consolidated Copper Mines Investments Holdings, demanding payment of K900,000 for the five hectares of land it purchased from him in Masaiti. This is according to a statement of claim filed in the Ndola High Court. Mpombo stated that ZCCM-IH had ignored, failed, refused and neglected to pay the money and that efforts to try and fulfill the said payment had not been successful. “The plaintiff (Mpombo) sold five hectares of land to the defendant (ZCCM-IH) on 18th September 2017 in the sum of K900,000.00. The defendant (ZCCM-IH) took possession of the land and obtained a certificate of title from the Ministry of Lands, being number F/Masaiti/10402835,” read the statement of claim....
