THE Lusaka Magistrates’ Court has adjourned the theft case involving former first lady Esther Lungu to July 25, 2025, for mention and the setting of continued trial dates. Lusaka Magistrate Mbuyuwana Simvula adjourned the matter because Esther is mourning her late husband, former president Edgar Lungu. Defence lawyer Charles Changango yesterday informed journalists that the case was heard in chambers, stating that the legal team explained the circumstances surrounding the accused to the court. When the matter came up for trial yesterday, the other accused persons were in court except Esther, whose spouse, Lungu, died on June 5, 2025.
