Meanwhile President Edgar Lungu has congratulated the team, describing them as one of the most talented squads Zambia has produced.
President Lungu said he is elated and that the team has made the country proud.
He further said that the team should perform even better and lift the trophy at the finals in November in Egypt.
“Let me congratulate our gallant boys who have just qualified to the finals. That team has made the country proud. I must add, there are some great talents in that team,” the President said.
The final three teams at the Egypt U23 AFCON finals will automatically qualify to the Tokyo 2020 Olympics.
Zambia last participated at the Olympics in 1988.
