ZAMBIA U17 Women’s National Team captain, Mercy Chipasula, has been named Junior Female Sportsperson of the Year at the 2025 Regional Annual Sports Awards (RASA) held on Saturday night in Harare, Zimbabwe. Chipasula edged out Zimbabwean cricketer Kellys Ndlovu and Botswana’s young chess sensation Natalie Katlego Banda to claim the prestigious accolade. Chipasula played a pivotal role in helping Zambia qualify for back-to-back FIFA U-17 Women’s World Cups. She also starred in the Copper Princesses’ victorious 2024 COSAFA U17 Girls Championship campaign, where she was named Player of the Tournament and won the Golden Boot after scoring 13 goals.
