WITH less than 20 months before Zambia’s general elections, NGOCC, in conjunction with the Zambia National Traditional Counsellors Association and Zambia National Women’s Lobby have began identifying women who can join the political field and take up decision making positions. Currently, there are only 25 women, out of 167 members of parliament, accounting for only 15.4 percent representation in the National Assembly. This is far from meeting the SADC Protocol on Gender which encourages 50-50 parity.
