Minister of Finance Dr Bwalya Ng’andu has withdrawn Sales Tax Bill number of seven of 2019 for further refinement and says it will be reintroduced during the budget session of Parliament.
Dr Ng’andu withdrew the bill on Friday.
Addressing the House, the Minister stated that the Sales Tax Bill would be reintroduced during the Budget Session commencing in September, 2019, in readiness for it’s commencement in January, 2020.
“Mr Speaker, I intend to reintroduce the bill during the budget session in September 2019 during the budget session for commencement in January 2020. Sir, this will allow for sufficient time to address the concerns in the Sales Tax Bill that stakeholders raised during the comprehensive consultations that were undertaken on Sales Tax implementation, and for businesses to adapt, I thank you,” said Dr Ng’andu.
