The University Teaching Hospital (UTH) has increased user fees at the low-cost Caesarean Section.
According to information gathered from the hospital, the low-cost Caesarean Section fees have been increased from K20 to K100 while bypass fees have been revised from K160 to K300, effective October 1, 2019.
And UTH Women and New Born Hospital Medical Superintendent Dr Maureen Chisembele confirmed the development to News Diggers in an interview.
“Every year, we do increase a certain percentage, about 10 per cent. We have just done a yearly increase. Last year, we increased in September and this year, we have just increased. In fact, last year we didn’t charge the standard but this year we have. I don’t think I have calculated the actual increase but yes we have increased. I don’t have the actual schedule with me but all I can tell you is that yes we have done an increment,” said Dr Chisembele.
