FORMER Attorney General Musa Mwenye says it is unacceptable that government authorities would arrest resident doctors who are demanding their employment dues while offering freedom to incarcerate criminals. And Alliance for Community Action executive director Laura Miti says the arrest of Resident Doctors’ Associates of Zambia secretary general Dr Chikonde Mukula is an attempt to intimidate citizens from demanding their rights. Police were deployed at the University Teaching Hospital yesterday to disperse the doctors who were staging a peaceful protest, demanding the recruitment of 500 doctors and payment of salary arrears, among other demands.
