THE Drug Enforcement Commission has revealed that it actively investigated 1,093 cases countrywide in 2022, out of which 113 people were arrested and 17 cases were referred to other Law Enforcement Agencies. The commission says in the same year, it seized various properties suspected to be proceeds of crime, which include 108 motor vehicles, 72 real properties, 41 bank accounts with a total bank balance of over K174 million and over US$19 million, among others. Meanwhile, the commission says the total amounts involved in cases where arrests have been made are K347,955,017.45.
