WATER Development and Sanitation Minister Collins Nzovu says the country has seen a rise in illegal mining activities in mineral-rich areas, which are contributing to the pollution of water resources. Presenting a ministerial statement on the pollution of water bodies caused by illegal mining, Tuesday, Nzovu said contaminated waste from illegal mining-related activities was often discharged directly into water bodies. “In the recent past, the country has seen a rise in illegal mining activities in mineral-rich parts of the country.
