UPND National Chairperson for Mobilisation Sylvia Masebo says the Patriotic Front (PF) is a spent force with no realistic chance of returning to power.

Speaking in Bemba during a campaign event in Ngweshi Ward of Kalulushi District, Monday, Masebo likened PF to other former ruling parties that eventually faded from Zambia’s political landscape.

“You are aware that UNIP is finished, they worked for us, did they come back? What about MMD? So, do you think PF will come back? That’s all it is finished; it has ended, as at now it’s forward. Even the forward (UPND) after 20 years others will come, we can’t move backwards. Zambia moves forward there is no going backwards,” Masebo said.

“I am asking that you take this election seriously. This is HH, HH’s son and it means that if this one wins, it’s HH who has won. And if he does not win it means HH does not have a channel. They will frustrate him. You know that politicians in Africa do not know how to work together. We are asking please vote for HH’s son”.

Masebo said it was time to move forward with progress, reiterating that PF was finished.

“From tomorrow you will be getting chitenges, that is campaign as well. There is no point in wearing t-shirts when the person is dead and you have not even buried; it doesn’t sit well. So, let’s move forward with progress, PF has finished now. Let’s work with HH and next year elections will come. We want him to finish the 10 years. We cannot change the president every five years. In Zambia do we change governments after 10 years? In Zambia it’s 10 years and after 10 years HH will go and we will look at others. So, for now we just want progress,” said Masebo.

“So, as women, let’s do something because HH is sending money but it’s like the money is not working. For the money to work we need to work together. So, work with the government for the day”.

Meanwhile, UPND’s Copperbelt Chairman Elisha Matambo, who also spoke in Bemba, said the people of Kalulushi would suffer if they chose to vote against the ruling party.

“In these remaining three days, they will give you green chitenges, they will give K300. But after 10th July they will be all gone and you will start looking for water again. You will remain looking for women grants and youth skills again. By then they would have all gone but the person you will remain with is the councillor. If you make a mistake and choose that other councillor because of the money that they will start giving you and the things they will bring, it means you have killed the children and yourselves. If you make a wise decision on Thursday, we will all go but you will remain with him. We choose this man to be the candidate because he is usually found even during funerals in the ward. I will give you an example: there was this man who had a dog, one day they went into the bush because the dog used to hunt animals a lot. But on that day behind the hill in the bush he heard the dog fighting with an animal. So, he said that I am sure the dog is hunting the same way it does. But when he went to check he had found it was a Mumbwe fighting with the dog. That is how he got an axe to fight the Mumbwe because it might kill his dog. That’s how he mistakenly went and hit the dog instead of the Mumbwe,” said Matambo.

“The dog died, shortly after moving from where he was he moved within the bush only to find an impala. That’s how he thought of his dog saying if my dog was there it would have caught that animal. What I am saying is this on Thursday if you hit the man and leave the Mumbwe you will remember this man. I have already said that we have given Nkana water an ultimatum to work on the water problem by December. I can assure you that they will work on the water problem”.
