UPND Deputy National Spokesperson Elvis Nkandu says President Hakainde Hichilema never promised to reduce the price of mealie meal to K50 during the 2021 general elections campaign. Nkandu says the price reduction pledge was made in 2016, and if Zambians had elected President Hichilema at that time, he would have delivered on the promise because commodity prices were much lower.
