PUBLIC Protector Caroline Sokoni says her office is investigating maladministration in the Kafue River pollution by Sino Metals to determine how the river was allowed to be polluted without earlier intervention from regulators. Sokoni also says the office is investigating the manganese poisoning in Serenje, which has left some people brain-damaged. Speaking in an interview, Sokoni said the office was investigating any maladministration on the part of regulators, including the Health and Safety Department and other government departments. “We also have an environmental desk.
