YESTERDAY we ended our editorial opinion on a cautionary note to the President that he cannot be the player, coach and referee at the Industrial Development Corporation (IDC). The reason why we said this is because as things stand, with him sitting as board chairman of the institution, he installs himself as his own supervisor. In politics, that may be allowed, but in corporate governance, this doesn’t work. The issue we have is not against President Hichilema, but anyone who takes up the position of Republican President for our country.
